10 Weeks with the Olloclip iPhone Lens

Being a bit of an Instagram addict, I love the way you can capture moments of your life and instantly share them with the world.

There are some truly inspirational photographers on the community that capture stunning images just with their iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch and edit them straight on their device.

One of my favourite photographers to follow is Kelvin Gillmor, he shares his world of photography and music through Instagram, showing us some of the beautiful parts or Ireland he takes landscape photography.

Kelvin started using a Olloclip lens in December 2011 and once I saw his images I wanted on myself.

The Olloclip is a 3 in 1 lens for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, it comprises of a macro, wide-angle and fisheye lens. The small, light-weight accessory is perfect for those who want to expand on their iPhoneography.

To test out the lens I decided to take a picture of a small plant we had just started to grow. The plant was approximately 5mm in length and a good test for the macro lens.

I also love the fisheye, it help capture images where space doesn't usually allow and adds a new dimension to the image. Whilst in KFC I took the image below, this wouldn't have been possible with the standard iPhone camera as it was just too close.

The only small faults I have with the Olloclip is that you have to take off your case to fit the lens, which means you have to carry it as another pocket item (keys, wallet, iPhone and now the Olloclip) it's getting pretty full in these pockets! Also it covers the lock button which means if you are running on low battery you need to keep taking it off to lock the phone to save battery life.

Other than these small niggles it's an amazing piece of kit and well worth the £59.99 RRP. I take mine with me everywhere, which means I have the variety of 4 lens (including the standard iPhone lens) and it all fits in my pocket.

If you want to see some of Kelvin Gillmor's Instagram photos you can find them by following @kelvingillmor I'm sure he would appreciate the follow.
